Star Points
Yo, let me introduce you to the most poppin’ okonomiyaki spot in Osaka!

You’re probably like “what’s okonomiyaki?” Check out my article here:

Here’s the deal – it’s this sick Japanese dish cooked on a hot iron plate, made with cabbage, flour batter, and eggs. They throw in stuff like pork, squid, or shrimp, then load it up with sauce, mayo, seaweed, and these dancing bonito flakes on top. Kansai-style mixes everything together, while Hiroshima-style stacks it up in layers. It’s straight-up comfort food that everyone loves!

Hirokazuya is this low-key spot that real locals know about. Mad cheap and crazy good. The best part? It’s usually not packed like other spots. Like, everyone knows about Yukari and Kiji in Umeda, but those places got lines for days. That’s why I’m putting you on to this hidden gem that’s getting mad respect.

It’s in Hankyu Higashi-dori, one of Osaka’s wildest drinking districts. The streets are PACKED with people and spots everywhere – don’t get lost fam! It’s a bit of a walk, but that just means you’ll be extra hungry when you get there. The spot’s kinda tight but smell of that grilled sauce is straight fire!

Each table’s got its own iron plate built in. You thinking you gotta cook it yourself? Nah fam, the staff hooks you up! They cook it in the kitchen and bring it right to your table! How dope is that? The iron plate just keeps your food hot – but watch out, it’s mad hot!

When they bring out your okonomiyaki, that sauce smell is gonna drive you crazy! When it starts sizzling on your table, you’ll be like “let me at it!” The most popular joint is the “Butatama” – that’s the one with thin sliced pork on top. If you’re lost, just say “Butatama” and you’re good.

My personal favorite? The “Negiyaki” – it’s loaded with green onions and the flavor is straight fire!

Negi-yaki

All the menu items are named after what’s inside. Like “Buta Tama” has “Buta” which means pork. If you see “Ika-negi-yaki,” that means it’s got squid and green onions. Easy, right?

For sides, you GOTTA try the “suji-nikomi.” It’s this local Kansai dish where they cook beef tendons for mad long. Usually, beef tendons are tough as hell, but they cook these so long they get mad tender and soaked with flavor. Perfect with drinks!

They got two spots in Hankyu Higashi-dori – good luck finding them!
